The NL Sports Week (December 12 – December 16) is about to start! In the upcoming weeks towards the NL Sports Week, we will introduce the organizations that will participate in the NL Sports Week at the Expo in Dubai. We will do this by asking everyone the same 5 questions. Today, we have the pleasure to introduce Active Esports Arena (website)!
- Can you briefly introduce Active Esports Arena?
Active Esports Arena is a premium XR entertainment solution that focusses on the intersection of sports and gaming. The experience is about 2 teams of 2 players competing against each other by using the whole body as a controller in a virtual environment. It’s great to play because of the high speed that can be achieved, and fun to watch from along the side-lines or even online. The experience can be portable and with build-up time as little as 30 minutes, it is ideal for events. It gives the opportunity for every player to stand in the centre stage, the most immersive way of entering the Metaverse. Run, jump, crawl; do everything needed to get the highest rank. It gets people to exercise, while thinking they are simply playing a game.
- What does your organization have to offer in the UAE?
Active Esports Arena sets a new standard in virtual reality by adding high paced, physical movement into the game which contributes to a heathier lifestyle. It’s great to look at the skills that players can build up, for competitions to rise.
We believe this will give rise to a new category of gaming, strongly focusing on the Metaverse, with Dubai being a leader in this region. The experience can be set as permanent solution, but also as mobile event. The content can be customised to local sports clubs and federations to further monetise stadiums, LBE’s and shopping malls as well as being used for events to attract people and promote brands.
- Why do you participate in the NL Sports Week at the Expo in Dubai?
So far, most games and esports are about using a controller. Sometimes the game resembles a sport, though it’s often physically inactive. Active Esports Arena, a new platform for VR/AR games, comes with a whole new approach. By developing highly immersive multi-player game experiences, players no longer think about physical effort; they are about to play a game. A competition that uses the best of traditional sports as well. It gets people to exercise in a whole new and fun way, inspired by the best activities that traditional sports have to offer. Within the Netherlands many events have been organised, such as with the Dutch centre of Olympics in Papendal and the top soccer clubs, such as Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV (official partner).
- What are you looking forward to the most?
We look forward to increasing our network in the region and to finding partners who want to become part of Active Esports Arena (shopping malls, sport federations/clubs, LBE locations and investors). Our goal is to promote Active Sports Arena as a premium XR experience that can become the start of a new competition.
- Why should everyone come to the Netherlands Pavilion and meet you at the Expo?
Most people have experienced VR by now, however the body as a controller is something completely new. To truly believe, we want people need to try it for themselves. Once it has been experienced, people start to understand and believe in the extremely wide range of opportunities to become part of this technology.
