13 Oct 2011On October 10th 2011, PSV Eindhoven, the AIFF and the OSF concluded a deal to appoint Rob Baan as the technical director of the AIFF for the upcoming two years.
Almost two years ago the Orange Sport Forum was established to bring sport expertise to emerging markets. India was from day one our main target markets.
Since then, we have established a number of useful contacts in India. The appointment of Mr Baan is for us an important milestone in our route to India. We hope this will significantly contribute to the development of the soccer sport in India. Mr Baan will be entrusted with drafting a master plan for youth development and the creation of soccer talent centers. The talents we develop in these centers will be the core of the future Indian national team that must be able to compete with the best on international level. We have a strong believe this step will lead to new opportunities for Indo-Dutch cooperation, especially in the area of sports.

20 Jun 2011Tapping the craze for football in India seems to be the latest trend among western countries and Dutch sports management company Orange Sports Forum (OSF) will be providing the All India Football Federation. (AIFF) with a technical team which will supervise the talent in the country at the grassroots level.
The much touted technical director – who was not only going to personally supervise the grassroots development of the game, but also bridge the gap in communication between the senior team coach and the junior teams – will now be replaced by a team of directors who will calculate the progress and prepare reports for the federation to assess.
Although the federation has refused to go on record with the development, saying that only initial talks have been held so far, an AIFF official confirmed that they are impressed with the plan of the Holland- based group and that the deal is on.
“The deal is set to be signed. Although the company arrive in India at the end of the month for a presentation for the federation, it will be more of an effort from their side to understand the football culture in the country and the infrastructural conditions,” the official told MAIL TODAY.
“They will be travelling across the country and get accustomed to the Indian culture. Although the basic principles of the programme will be same as that of the Dutch style of play – something which is famous all over the world – it will be customised to suit India’s needs,” he noted.
“It is a win-win situation for Indian football. Not only does OSF pump in money for the technical team to operate in India, but if all goes well, legends like Guus Hiddink could be coming over to chalk out grassroots development plan for the country. Honestly, we don’t have the financial feasibility to approach someone like Hiddink.”
According to the official, it is the keenness shown by European corporate, who operate in India, which really set the ball rolling for the plan to see the light of the day. “OSF has received a lot of offers from European companies who are eager to invest in the Indian market. They are really eager to tap the market in the country. They feel that India is one country whose potential in the world market is untouched. “They feel being associated with the federation would help them in their endeavour to tap the Indian market. It is no surprise that the game has a huge following in the country, despite the national team not doing that well,” he said.

20 Jun 2011On May 25th about 20 people/organisations attended the Orange Sports Forum meeting at the United Broadcast Facilities’ offices in Hilversum.
At this meeting the parties discussed the Orange Sports Forum’s agenda. The Orange Sports Forum is charged with developing a network of and for Dutch companies and organizations, in order that they can widely market their knowledge and expertise on sports to (up and coming) markets and relations, with their counterparts in these up and coming countries.
The Orange Sports Forum wants to develop into a network where sport associations, sport technical companies and businesses with a strong affinity for sport can meet. The companies and organizations can share knowledge within this network and profile in the field of sport expertise and, where necessary, develop business opportunities together. The persons present stated that the establishment of such a platform in the Netherlands seems definitely significant.
The sports market in India is considered as one of the first markets that will be explored by Orange Sports Forum. This market is in full development and therefore offers great opportunities. We want to research how we, the Orange Sports Forum, can work together to apply these opportunities and how we can establish a structural relation with the Indian sports industry.
This means that we, in the near future, want to apply ourselves together with the other participants, to establish and extend the Orange Sports Forum network. Secondly we will research how we can give further shape to our relations with Sports India.

20 Jun 2011by Ronald Kramer
At the invitation of the Dutch ambassador Bob Hiensch a ‘High Level Sport Lunch’ took place on March 10th, 2010, at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting was highly successful and initiated a further cooperation between the Netherlands and India in the field of sports. The guests were:
Netherlands:
Maurits Hendriks, Technical Director NOC-NSF and Chef de Mission London Summer Olympics 2012, former National Hockey Coach for the Netherlands (Olympic gold as assistant to Roelant Oltmans in 1996 and Olympic gold in 2000 as head coach) and National Hockey Coach of Spain , George de Jong, Director Innosport, Rein Jansma, Director Zwarts&Jansma Architects, Ronald Kramer, Director DRK, Sports Management and Consultancy, George Taylor, President/CEO, Sports Arts, Theo Groothuizen, Counsellor, Science & Technology, Guus Lamers, First Secretary, Economic and Commercial Affairs.
India:
Mrs. Khullar, Secretary Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI, Pravir Krishn, Jt Secretary & Special Officer, Common Wealth Games, Sports Authority of India, Alberto Colaco, General Secretary, All India Football Federation, Abhinav Bindra, Shooter, Gold Medallist Beijing Olympics, Hiren (Henry) Sheth, MD, Sportina, Representative Desso Sports Systems.
Many topics were addressed during the animated discussions. The good will to cooperate in the field of sports was confirmed by the Ambassador as well as by Mrs Khullar. However, Mrs Khullar differentiated hardware and software. Tenders will be given out for hardware, open for everyone, including Dutch companies. Tenders are expected for sport accommodations and sport scientific institutions. The distance between government and sports federations seems still big (compared to that in the Netherlands in 1980).
It is a problem for the government to realize objectives (sport for all and top sport) with limited resources. Co-operation can therefore be important. The Indian soccer association named the Dutch youth training and women’s soccer as an example. The latter especially drew the attention of Mrs. Khullar. There was actually talk of an exchange of women’s teams.
The conclusion was that a co-operation could be established through the following means:
In short, a promising step forward. Progress will be monitored by the Embassy.
Orange Sports Forum is the initiative of a number of co-operating companies and institutions that wish sport well. Orange Sports Forum is a platform for the promotion of companies, organisations and institutions affiliated to Dutch sport. We want to map the opportunities for Dutch companies with this initiative and create a platform where Dutch companies and institutions can get in contact with clients and possible partners from up and coming markets.
